Lend A Hand of Boulder City, Nevada

Lend A Hand is a program designed to help the elderly and chronically ill of Boulder City, NV remain in their homes by providing a variety of services by volunteers.

Lend A Hand is a non-profit organization of staff and volunteers who help clients remain in their own homes by providing companionship, respite for caregivers and transportation for appointments and errands; and lending equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.

A major service is driving clients to medical and other appointments -- some in Boulder City, but many in Las Vegas. Our volunteers provide companionship and will escort and assist clients as needed. Volunteers donate their time and drive their own cars. Mileage reimbursement is available--and is a major expense item for Lend A Hand.

In 2008 a new program began called In Home Services for individuals who would like services such as respite for caregivers, companionship, light meals/light housekeeping, opening mail, arranging appointments and resources, simple home repair and upkeep, walking and exercise, pet walking, doing laundry, changing bed linens and making beds.

To receive services. Call the Lend A Hand office to arrange for a staff member to visit you to discuss specific needs and to determine how Lend A Hand can assist you. After agreeing on a plan for service, you may call the office to arrange service appointments. Driving and in-home services are provided by trained, caring volunteers. Lend A Hand serves seniors 60+ and the disabled.

Volunteers. A wide variety of skills and interests are needed to serve our hundreds of clients. We need drivers, in-home assistants, office workers, board of trustee members. We respect volunteers' need for flexible scheduling and appreciate whatever time they can give.

Funding. Almost half of our funding is provided by grants, the rest is from donations and major fund raising events on behalf of Lend A Hand. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax deductible.

The mission of Lend A Hand has always been "To help seniors and those with disabilities to be able to live independently for as long as possible."
